Estate Planning

All aspects of estate planning are applicable to special needs children and adults. One vehicle that is vitally important is a Special Needs Trust (SNT). It can be set up in such a way that funds are provided for the care of your child without jeopardizing their eligibility for governmental benefits like Medicaid and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). There are Third Party SNTs and First Party SNTs and we will help you decide which one works best for you.

IEP Work

The law requires public schools to offer services to special needs children that will meet the child’s specific needs by establishing an Individualized Education Program (IEP). There is a comprehensive list of services that, based on your child’s needs, are required to be part of your child’s IEP. If the necessary services are not provided to your child, we will represent you at a due process hearing to determine why the services are no longer provided or to have them reinstated.
