A&E has developed a new show entitled Born This Way. It is about seven adults who have Down Syndrome and their daily activities. One of the conversations highlighted in last night’s episode was centered around what, if any planning, the parents of these individuals with special needs had done to ensure that they will be taken care of and protected well after their parents are no longer here. ans that they have in place or need to put in place in an effort to protect their loved ones with special needs. Some of the most frequent questions I ask are the following: Who is going to be taking care of your loved one with special needs after you are gone? Have you done the right type of estate planning to ensure that they are going to be taken care of? Have you talked with family and friends who may be stepping into your shoes to take care of them? Have you filled out a letter of intent so that your substitute person or persons will know how to best take care of your loved one with special needs? These are all heavy but necessary questions to consider when planning for the future of your loved one with Special Needs and loved ones in general. If you or anyone you know are uncertain about how to plan for a loved one with special needs, please call the Law Office of Elizabeth A. Homes LLC for a free initial consultation. I would be happy to meet with you to discuss your needs so that your loved ones will be taken care of and protected. Feel free to call my office at (317) 660-5004 or email me at elizabeth@ehomeslaw.com.

Owen lost his speech over the course of several months. This book discusses this family’s experience with helping their child who was diagnosed with autism. They found that they could communicate with their son through the magical world of Disney.
